Do you believe in God? Do you believe there is a Heaven and a Hell?
Heaven is For Real by Todd Burpo is one of the greatest true testaments of a young boy’s account of his trip to heaven. There will always be questions about whether he (Colton T. Burpo) really did go to heaven or if this was a made up story for personal gains. If you don’t believe don’t waste your time in reading my blog, but if you do and are curious, then stay for a little bit longer. I don’t want to discourage anyone from finding ways to seek God and glorify him through his words. I want to share the good news with them, but if you were here to tarnish my blog with vulgar commentaries then I would prefer you to just leave and seek something else during your boredom.
I wanted to share my input from an outsider’s perspective and not from unbelievers such as Susan Jacoby. If heaven wasn’t real, then what is real? If you don’t believe in a four-year-old’s account of his time in heaven, then what do you truly believe? There are only two things that can help you solve this matter, either you do or you don’t. You either believe with your whole heart that Jesus Christ died on the cross for our sins or you don’t. I have my share of testaments and stories to share that will probably change your mind. Remember, that according to the Bible, “ No one can serve two masters. For you will hate one and love the other, you will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.” (Matthew 6: 24).
I pray for those who do not understand to turn their ways and open their hearts, it isn’t too late to turn around where you are right now and confess your sins. It‘s really simple; all you have to do is pray for God to forgive your sins and ask Him to enter into your heart. If it wasn’t for my Christian family, I wouldn’t be where I am today (spiritually) and I wouldn’t be writing in my blog to give you a testimony myself.
I knew God and Jesus Christ, but I didn’t know of them. I was a lost Shepard and didn’t know where to turn to for help or who to talk with. I grew up with a family of ten, a father who wasn’t really there and were taught that emotions were a sign of weakness (just as you read from my previous blog post). However, I always prayed to God in my writings and didn’t know about it. I prayed that my most of my family members would stop smoking and drinking. That prayer was answered when one of my sisters decided to quit smoking; I was floored because I said that prayer twelve years ago. Sure some of my prayers will take a while to be answered, but the power of prayers is amazing. I prayed to discover why my heart was always so heavy, so clouded with darkness and why I always felt like I’m stuck in a sucking void.
After reading Heaven Is For Real, I remembered a dream I had before I attended my sister’s church. The devil was trying to tempt me in all areas of my life, but he couldn’t budge me. I felt another presence, a man who was humbled and filled with peace. He had the most extraordinary eyes I could have ever seen, eyes that I will always remember. HE asked me one question, “ Why are you here in limbo?” His question shot through me and I cried to him, “ Because it hurts too much.” You have to understand that I wasn’t in any relationships or dated anyone or even fell in love, I just felt pain and despair for no apparent reason. The next day, I attended church with my sister to the Appleton Salvation Church of God where Pastor Bon asked why we feel so empty. It was then that I was convinced that my heart was empty because I didn’t have Jesus in my heart.
I for one believe of Colton’s account of going into heaven. I believe in him because I have faith in his journey that allowed him to give is testimony for us through the work of Jesus Christ, Amen. God is real, Jesus is real and they exist to save us from our own destruction. God is truly an amazing God, without his Love and Kindness; we would still be lost sheep without a Shepard to guide us home.
