The Remote Control

As human beings we have a tendency to be on the go with our everyday routine. Let’s admit to ourselves that we often complain about the business of our lives to our friends and close family members. And if we were in the Olympics, we’d probably win a gold medal for being a robot doing the same things so proficiently. Yet, no one seems to stop and stare. And no, I don’t mean the song by One Republic. I mean life! Spiritually! What do I mean by spiritually? Well people, you’re going to find out right now.

If you’re one of those people who claim that their comfortable in what they have, then there is something wrong with you. If you start to get comfortable with your life, then you’re not getting anywhere in life. You’re stuck doing the same thing like a repeat button on your IPod or MP3 player (whatever music devices you’re using). Let me give you an example: You wake up, prepare for the day, go to work, come back home, take a shower, nap, eat, watch a little television (news) and go back to bed for another day repeating the day all over again. Let me tell you my friends, that example I just gave you is not life. That example used to be my life. And I will admit to you all, I wasn’t happy with my life and I always felt like I was in a sucking void in a black whole. I was empty. That is the truth and it needs to be dealt with as soon as possible, it’s called self-awareness people. SLAP…! It’s as if I have to personally slap you on the cheek with the Bible in order to wake you up. Wake UP…!

If your one of those people who carries a daily calendar (blackberry, agenda, etc…) with your non-stop list of errands, you are missing out on life and the most important factor of your life. For those who are married with no kids, you are missing out on each other. For those who have kids, you’re missing out on what is happening in your child’s life. You’re like a remote control and pressed the fast-forward button zipping through life missing important key moments in your life (Remember the film CLICK). You find no purpose or a meaning when there is so much in life to be thankful and appreciate about. God blessed you with those gifts, if you cannot see those gifts, then you are another lost sheep along with the rest of the world.

For those of you, who always reminisce about the past, stop it! What you did in the past is over and done with. Finite! In retrospect, it’s always great to share and revisit old memories. However, when you start spewing tales of your youth when you were a “thug” with a smile on your face, you have some serious problems. For one thing, you actually think that your “thuggish” sinful days were actual accomplishments! Second, what have you done to be proud of besides getting yourself pregnant (women) or getting someone pregnant (men)! Did you even graduate from high school or go to college? Press the DELETE button on your laptop and let the past be the past. Let it go and move on. People, there is more to life then rewinding back into the past.

Push the STOP button on your remote control and be honest with yourself. I don’t want to be reigning down on anyone’s parade because I’ve been through some of those stages myself (FYI: single, never married and no kids). Have you ever asked yourself if you were happy? I don’t mean the temporary happiness like a song you are currently listening to because it made you happy, but what’s inside your heart. Ask yourself if your heart is full, half-emptied or completely emptied? Are you happy where you are in life?

Until you answer this question with your comments or question, I’ll be more than happy to answer. God bless you all and I pray that you start listening to God’s voice. Amen.

Now, back to the original question. What did I mean by spiritually? Easy, open up your bible and read. The Bible is also known as the Gospel, the Word in order to have a relationship with God. The Bible is the fruit of our spiritual nourishment and when you’re ready, fellowship with other strong true believers of the Lord our God Almighty.
